Speech and Language therapy

Speech language therapy - Speech-language therapy for children aimed at facilitating communication and language disorders in children. Speech-language therapists, also known as speech-language pathologists (SLPs), work with children who have difficulties in various aspects of communication, including speech, language, fluency, voice, and social communication.

It involves:

  • Assessment

  • provide induvidualized treatment plan

  • Articulation therapy – like speech sound disorders, SODA errors.

  • Language therapy - Language therapy addresses difficulties with understanding and using language. This can involve activities to improve vocabulary, sentence structure, grammar, and comprehension skills. Therapists may also work on developing narrative and storytelling abilities.

  • Voice therapy- Voice therapy focuses on addressing problems related to pitch, volume, quality, and resonance of the child's voice. This can be particularly beneficial for children with voice disorders or those who strain their vocal cords eg ., nasal voice, harsh voice, beathy etc

  • Fluency therapy- SLP address issues like stuttering, cuttering , neurogenic stuttering etc.

  • social communication skills-  SLP often work on improving a child's ability to engage in social interactions, including understanding nonverbal cues, taking turns in conversation, and using appropriate language in different social situations.
