Occupational Therapy -   Occupational therapy help the child to carry out purposeful activities to help them develop the skills they need to participate in everyday life. The primary goal is to improve a child's ability to engage in activities at home, school, and in the community. Occupational therapists work with children who may have challenges related to physical, cognitive, sensory, or social-emotional development.

 

  • Fine motor skills- OT help children develop coordination and strength in their hands and fingers, required for tasks such as writing, cutting, colouring etc.
  • Gross motor skills- OT helps in imroving and regaining balance, coordination, and overall body strength to help children with activities like running, jumping, and playing sports.
  • Social skills- important for communication, cooperation, and understanding social cues. Group activities and games can be used to facilitate social interactions.
  • Cognitive skills- Occupational therapy can address cognitive challenges by incorporating activities that enhance attention, memory, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Self-help skills- Occupational therapists assist in promotion for personal care activities such as feeding, grooming, and dressing.
  • Sensory proceesing- Some children may have difficulty processing sensory information, leading to challenges in regulating their responses. Occupational therapists work to address sensory integration issues through activities that help children better process and respond to sensory stimuli.
  • Visuo-motor skills- OT work on improving the coordination between visual perception and motor skills, which is essential for activities like handwriting and drawing
  • Play skills- Play is an important aspect of a child's development. Occupational therapists use play-based activities to promote the development of various skills and to encourage creativity and social interaction.
